The F1 racer is a big fan of the national team
Wearing attire inspired by Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton appeared at the Interlagos racetrack for this weekend’s Brazilian GP Prix.
As he arrived for the Brazilian Grand Prix’s media day on Thursday, Lewis Hamilton made it clear to everyone which hometown hero he is honouring this weekend. He turned heads all around the paddock.
Lewis Hamilton, who has a deep affection for Ayrton Senna that dates back to his early years, honoured the late Sao Paolo hero by showing up in a custom suit with fluorescent green and yellow accents and a picture of the three-time F1 World Champion pinned to his back.
Following a thrilling race against Max Verstappen to win the intense 2021 race, Hamilton draped him in the Brazilian flag at the finish line and was named an honorary citizen of Brazil last year.

Hamilton has spoken highly of the nation he has a strong connection to, having formed a deep bond with the Senna family while matching and surpassing Ayrton’s records. Ayrton died in an unfortunate incident while dominating the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
“Brazil has always been a place that I’ve loved and admired as a kid,” Lewis Hamilton said.
“Obviously following Ayrton [Senna] you’re naturally drawn to the country but through my life, just meeting more and more Brazilian resilience and knowing more about the culture and the community and it’s very, very diverse there.
“There’s a lot of energy, music, colour and I’ve had over the years amazing times there. I won my first World Championship in Brazil and 14 years later, whatever it is, the epic race that I had there last year and the moment I had with the Brazilian flag, so that’s my biggest following is in Brazil.
“So I’m very, very honoured and grateful and can’t wait to spend more time there.”
