Lyon sack Fabio Grosso & appoint Pierre Sage as interim manager

Lyon this season sacked Laurent Blanc due club’s dismissal performance
According to French reports, Olympique Lyon have fired Fabio Grosso because his performance didn’t improve. After taking over for Laurent Blanc at the underperforming French team on September 18, the 46-year-old Italian manager set out in an attempt to rapidly move up the Ligue 1 standings.
For Grosso, however, things weren’t going as expected. In his seven games with Lyon, he has only secured one victory, and the team is still sitting very low in the league standings, five points from security.
Poor fan behaviour during his tenure in France has also damaged his experience, leaving him bruised and bleeding before a match against Olympique Marseille.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon are about to fire Grosso and is prepared to name academy director Pierre Sage as a provisional substitute. Igor Tudor, Jorge Sampaoli, and Bruno Genesio are long-term contenders for the position.

With Lyon, Grosso has only managed five points in seven games. During his two years at Frosinone prior, he made an impression and led them to advancement from Serie B the previous season.
At Red Star, Sage played a crucial role in the coaching group that supported Habib Beye. Les Audoniens faced relegation to National 2 when the team took over in 2021.
Since then, they have improved their consistency and results while playing a more appealing brand of football.
Red Star just missed out on promotion to Ligue 2 after finishing third in the Championnat National this season. Given that Sage’s exit is all but certain, manager Habib Beye will probably follow Sage out of the team. Beye has been connected to multiple Ligue 2 managerial positions, including Amiens and Sochaux.
