Odisha FC are gearing up for their last league match against the Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Cup which is scheduled to be played December 11, 2023 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
The Juggernauts trail by only one victory to secure their position in the next round of the league. Currently, Odisha FC holds the second place with a total of nine points earned from five matches played. In the event of a triumph, they will ascend to the top spot, displacing the Bashundhara Kings who have accumulated 10 points from their five matches.
During the pre-match press conference, coach Sergio Lobera and captain Amrinder Singh shared valuable insights and displayed great confidence regarding their upcoming match and their encounter with the top-positioned team in their group.
Excitement for the game
Although Odisha FC suffered a defeat in their previous match against the Bashundhara Kings, they are currently filled with confidence and determined to put up a strong fight against the visiting team, aiming to outperform them.
Coach Sergio Lobera stated about the opportunity tomorrow and his team’s preparation for the same. He said, “It is a remarkable game to be played tomorrow. It presents a great opportunity for us to demonstrate that Odisha has reached a different level. We are filled with enthusiasm and are not burdened by any pressure regarding this match. Our objective is to enjoy tomorrow’s experience with all the spectators present in the stadium.”
“We are continuously improving our performance as we engage in various games. Our progress is evident as we strive to evolve each day. Notably, the players have developed a deeper understanding of the coach’s strategic plans. With this enhanced comprehension, I firmly believe that we are now adequately prepared to face tomorrow’s formidable opponents”, added by Amrinder.
Advantage of playing at home ground
The important fixture is going to be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, which is Odisha FC’s home ground. On a query about the advantage of playing in front of the home crowd, Sergio replied, “Yes, playing at home is always advantageous. However, we are also facing a highly skilled and formidable team. I have complete faith in my players, and all I need to do is savor the joys of football. We must take to the field, revel in the game, put in the necessary effort, and hopefully secure all three points. Our supporters deserve nothing less from us.”

Odisha FC looks to take the field with the whole squad as stated by the coach. He said, “We have all the squad ready. Playing with a complete squad undoubtedly grants me various advantages. With a plethora of options at my disposal, selecting the defensive lineup becomes a challenging task due to the presence of numerous players who possess commendable attributes and are in excellent form. As we boast a full squad, we stand prepared to undertake a significant challenge.”
