I-League 2023-24: Team of the Week for GW 11
Midfielders ruled the show in gameweek 11.
With only a few days left in the year, the I-League is about to commence its 12th week of matches. Throughout this period, the players have showcased remarkable performances while representing their respective clubs.
After the conclusion of the eleventh week of competition, Mohammedan SC continues to maintain their leading position in the standings with a total of 24 points from ten matches. Following closely behind, Sreenidi Deccan secured the second spot with 20 points from ten matches.
In this report, we will closely examine the performances of the players who have earned a spot in the team of the week following their outstanding displays during the 11th week of matches.
GK – Arindam Bhattacharya (Inter Kashi)
Arindam has been a stalwart for Inter Kashi in their inaugural season. Once again, he showcased his abilities with a flawless performance against the higher-ranked team, Delhi FC, in their most recent match.
RB – Laldanmawia (Aizawl FC)
Laldanmawia maintained composure throughout the game and displayed remarkable defensive skills to successfully thwart Gokulam Kerala’s offensive strategies, particularly in the latter half of the match.
CB – Saurabh Bhanwala (Namdhari FC)
The young gentleman successfully netted the initial goal for Namdhari during the first half of the match. Additionally, he diligently held his position in the defensive line, continuously maneuvering without requiring any substitutions.
CB – Kamal Issah (Real Kashmir)
Issah not only scored a goal for his team while commanding the midfield, but he also demonstrated solidity with his blocking skills whenever there was a threat of attack towards their goal.
LB – Muhammed Saheef (Gokulam Kerala)
Saheef had a memorable day on the field. As Aizawl FC launched their offensive from the very beginning, he immovably guarded the goal, thwarting nearly every potential threat before it could breach the penalty area.
RM – Lalbiakdika Vanlalvunga (Aizawl FC)
Vanlalvunga found the back of the net with a precise, delicate touch to score the lone goal for Aizawl FC in their match against Kerala. The goalkeeper was deceived by the finesse of his shot.
CM – Ansumana Kromah (NEROCA)
Ansumana Kromah, together with L.D. Singh, demonstrated unwavering determination and made commendable efforts until the final moments of the game. Despite their contributions of two additional goals for their team, regrettably, they ended up on the losing side.
AM – Alex Sanchez (Gokulam Kerala)
Sanchez managed to secure the much-needed equalizer in the game against Aizawl through an impressive header, ultimately resulting in a draw for his team.
CM – Mohammed Asif Khan (Inter Kashi)
Mohammed Asif’s contribution was crucial for Inter Kashi as he scored the opening goal in the 14th minute of the game. His remarkable performance boosted the team’s confidence and ultimately led to their victory.
LM – Lalchungnunga Chhangte (Rajasthan United FC)
Chhangte once again demonstrated his skill on the field. Not only did he exhibit his proficiency in the midfield, but he also managed to secure the second goal for Rajasthan in the 45+4th minute.
ST – Richardson Kwaku Denzell (Rajasthan United FC)
Denzell managed to secure two goals for Rajasthan during the match against NEROCA, thereby aiding his team in maintaining their lead and ultimately emerging victorious with a 4-3 win.
