About
Arindam Bhattacharya faced resistance from his family for taking up football as a career. But once the lanky goalkeeper joined the Tata Football Academy and was selected for the India under-19 after his heroics in the Subroto Cup, all opposition dissipated. After a short spell with the Sports Authority of India, the Oliver Kahn fan joined Churchill Brothers, with whom he won the I-League in 2008-09. He moved to Mohun Bagan in the 2012-13 season only to return to Churchill and win the Federation Cup in 2014. His finest moment came for the India under-23 team in the 2009 SAFF Cup final. His incredible saves including two in the tie-breaker, helped India prevail over defending champions Maldives 3-1 on penalties. Arindam, who has also played for Bharat FC and Sporting Goa after leaving Churchill, has been with FC Pune City since Hero ISL 2014 and but will ply his trade for Mumbai City FC this year.
