The NorthEast United coach said his players to be proud because they have another game in five days.

NorthEast United FC played out yet another draw against Bengaluru FC. The Highlanders managed to get a point in Bengaluru for the first time since 2019. Nestor Albiach opened the scoring for the away side in the 86th minute with a penalty kick.

After that, super-sub Sivasakthi Narayanan equalised for the Blues in the 95th minute with a header. After the game, NorthEast United FC’s head coach Juan Pedro Benali addressed the media and shared his thoughts.

Thoughts on the game

Sharing his thoughts on the game, Juan Pedro Benali said that he doesn’t like draws and came here to win. He also said that his side made a mistake by not scoring a second goal.

“We did not come here for a draw. I don’t like drawing. We don’t deserve a draw, we deserve more. We played against a very strong team with strong players and we made a big mistake by not scoring the second goal,” he stated.

Thoughts on Bengaluru FC

The head coach also shared his thoughts on Bengaluru FC under their new head coach. He said that Gerard Zaragoza is a very good coach who is trying to build something, but there wasn’t much difference in the game.

“They didn’t change much. We know each other very well. But, we tried to focus on ourselves. We tried to implement our system. Gerard is a good coach and he is trying to build something, but there wasn’t much difference today,” he asserted.

Message to the players

When asked about what his message was to the players after such a heartbreaking result, the Spaniard said, “The only thing I told them was to stand up and be proud because we have another game in five days. We will talk about it a little bit after watching the game tonight,” he concluded.
