The struggle continues for Bengaluru FC as they go seven matches without a win in ISL 2023-24.

Owen Coyle led Chennaiyin FC comfortably past a Grayson-less Bengaluru FC in a 2-0 victory. Rafael Crivellaro and Jordan Murray both converted from the spot in each half for the hosts. Bengaluru attackers troubled the home defence and tried to spoil the party but Debjit Majumder did enough to avoid any late drama.

Here are the player ratings for the game.

Chennaiyin FC (By JN Balraj)

Debjit Majumder (GK) – 7.5

Debjit denied Bengaluru FC attackers even a sly chance of any comeback. The custodian made three saves in the game and two high claims.

Bikash Yumnam – 6.5

The right-back delivered an impressive performance making two tackles and as many clearances on the night.

Ryan Edwards – 6.5

The skipper was a solid presence at the heart of defence and blocked a crucial shot as well.

Lazar Cirkovic – 6.0

The centre-back made three clearances and blocked one shot. He also created a goal-scoring chance with his eagle-eye pass and won two aerial duels.

Ankit Mukherjee – 7.0

Ankit was spot on with his positioning against Sivasakthi Narayanan. He won five duels, made three interceptions and created one chance in the game.

Ayush Adhikari – 6.5

The youngster must have impressed Owen Coyle with his crisp passing and final-third distributions in the game. With 48 touches on the ball, Ayush played 27 accurate passes and registered three tackles.

Jiteshwor Singh – 6.5

Jiteshwor continued his good run of play against the Blues. He successfully completed three tackles and as many interceptions, and created one chance.

Ninthoi Meetei – 6.0

The young gun had another livewire performance but lacked composure while thriving forward. Before being subbed off, he attempted five crosses and delivered two key passes.

Rafael Crivellaro – 8.5

The midfield maestro led from the front and guided his team to victory. Rafa broke the deadlock from the spot and won the second penalty. He created two scoring chances and had three shots on target as well.

Vincy Barretto – 7.0

The exciting prospect won all of his ground duels and created one chance with his blistering pace. These performances can make it difficult for Rahim Ali to get his spot back after he recovers.

Jordan Murray – 7.0

The Australian forward converted from the spot to give the Marina Machans a 2-0 lead. Overall, he had two shots on target and won a foul as well.

Substitutes

Alexander Romario Jesuraj – 5.5

Romario replaced Vincy and got half an hour under his belt but failed to impress. He had nine touches and won an aerial duel during his stay.

Irfan Yadwad – 6.0

The youngster had a golden opportunity to put the game to bed for his side but failed to keep his header on target.

Connor Shields – 6.0

Shields had 20 minutes to display his attacking prowess and created one chance in that time.

Sarthak Golui – 5.5

Sarthak won two duels and successfully registered a tackle in the dying minutes.

Sourav Das – N/A

Bengaluru FC (By Analoy Majumder)

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu – 7.0

Surrendered an early goal and played the first part of the game slowly but improved over time. In the first half, he was presented with a few shots, all of which he effectively controlled. His calmness and efficiency made for a safe performance under the post. Can’t be blamed for conceding two penalty-goals.

Aleksandar Jovanovic – 6.0

In the first half, Jovanovic produced some amazing clearances, but in the second period of play, he was unable to maintain his level.

Slavko Damjanovic – 6.5

He played admirably, giving his entire effort in defense. At the backline, he did well against Jordan Murray and Vincy Barretto, displaying his defensive prowess efficiently.

Naorem Roshan Singh – 7.0

Performed admirably on both ends of the field. On several occasions, he efficiently moved the ball forward and provided good attacking impetus.

Harsh Patre – 6.5

Harsh had a passive midfield performance. He awarded a penalty during the early minutes of the second half. Was subbed off in the latter half of the game.

Suresh Singh – 6.0

Suresh was rarely on the ball and failed to provide any tactical aid to the team. Glanced one shot from a tight angle in the second half only to find the wrong side of the net.

Javi Hernandez – 6.0

Gave his team width, but could have done better when in control of the ball. Didn’t provide a strong offensive play.

Sivasakthi Narayanan – 6.5

Sivasakthi continued to run throughout the game and provided some outstanding support, but it did not result in any of their desired outcomes.

Namgyal Bhutia – 6.5

Bhutia was sloppy at first, but he improved as the game went on. He was able to retake possession in the middle despite a few errant passes. Gave away a penalty in the budding stages of the game.

Halicharan Narzary – 6.0

Played a decent game until his substitution. He delivered several passes up front, but could have done a better job.

Sunil Chhetri – 6.5

Chhetri put in a solid display and nearly scored. Put in a great all-around striker’s effort.

Substitutes

Rohit Danu – 6.0

Rohit Danu replaced Harsh Patre in the second half. He had far too few chances to establish himself.

Shivaldo Singh – 6.5

He gave his team good momentum upon arrival and made an effort to establish a connection with the attackers. Rolled the ball significantly but was unable to help his team score any goals.

Monirul Molla – 5.0

He added fresh legs to the team but left the pitch with no notable addition.

Robin Yadav – N/A
