Have to learn our lessons as a group, asserts Hyderabad FC boss Thangboi Singto

Singto praised Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Rehenesh TP for his performance.
Hyderabad FC suffered a humiliating 5 goal defeat against Jamshedpur FC in the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) at the Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday. This marked the seventh defeat for the Nizams in the ongoing campaign as their search for the first win of the season continues.
A brilliant hat-trick by Daniel Chima Chukwu, a Doungel goal and an own goal by Jonathan Moya saw the Men of Steel collect three points in style and pile more misery on the struggling Hyderabad FC. Thangboi Singto, speaking in the post-match press conference, expressed the need to be positive and keep learning from such experiences.
Here are the excerpts from the conversation with the head coach of Hyderabad FC:
A tough day
Thangboi Singto, right off the bat, talked about it being a tough day for the players and how they must learn from this result going forward. He said, “It’s a very tough day for the players but we have to learn our lessons as a group. Today we had a few good chances, but their goalkeeper (Rehenesh) was outstanding, and the defenders of Jamshedpur FC were quite sharp today. Of course, the goals they scored were very clinical. But for us, nothing can be worse than this. We have to look up and stay positive.”
Felt Laxmikant Kattimani was ready
It was surprising to see Laxmikant Kattimani start ahead of Gurmeet Singh as the latter had not done much wrong to lose his position in the starting lineup to the former who just recovered from a long-term injury. Speaking on his team selection, Singto said, “In the last game, we lost by 3-0. I am not blaming Gurmeet Singh as such or anything like that. It was a team game. We lose together, and we win together. I think we felt that it was the right time to bring Laxmikant Kattimani looking ahead of Gurmeet Singh.”
Not our day
Thangboi Singto thought that a lack of teeth in attack and confidence in defence made it easy for Jamshedpur FC who were outstanding themselves on the night. “Whenever Jamshedpur FC got the chance on the counter, it looked like they were going to score. We could not take our chances like in the previous games. It was Jamshedpur FC’s day today,” the tactician concluded.
