Petr Kratky has managed Mumbai City for two games now and awaits his first victory.

In a riveting clash between Mumbai City FC and East Bengal, the football pitch transformed into an arena of intensity as both teams fiercely contested without managing to break the deadlock. The high-octane match, marked by strategic manoeuvres and resilient defences, culminated in a nail-biting draw.

Notably, this fixture carried added significance as it marked Petr Kratky’s inaugural home game at the helm of Mumbai City FC. Amidst the suspense, Kratky’s squad exhibited promising signs of cohesion and determination, offering glimpses of their potential under his leadership.

Let’s take a look at what head coach Petr Kratky had to say after the match:

Thoughts on the game

If you keep the result aside, the match had every aspect of a nail-biting clash, but just lacked goals. Petr Kratky highlighted, “I am really disappointed because we didn’t win. It’s our home ground. We should win here. But, there were a lot of positives. Fans were very good, pitch was very good. Players did what they were asked for. Overall, I am very happy.”

Finishing needs improvement?

Mumbai City FC dominated the game for a significant period. However, the team couldn’t finish their chances. Petr Kratky was asked whether he was concerned with the clinical ability of the players in front of goal. He replied, “We played how we were told to play football. So I am very pleased with that. But, as I said in the last game, we had 70% of possession, but for me it’s not good enough to just have possession. We need to score goals. It will come with the training.”

Chhangte’s Substitution

Lallianzuala Chhangte, one of Mumbai City’s vital players was brought on late in the game. The tactician addressed his substitution and said, “Chhangte is a very good player. Same goes for Bipin (Singh) and Jayesh (Rane).”

“We didn’t have too much time to train, so I couldn’t see them properly in training. When Chhangte came on, he did well. He has potential and quality,” he added.
