Was an accident, hope that it was only one time: Juan Pedro Benali on loss against East Bengal
Benali feels Hyderabad FC is a dangerous team, says even Mohun Bagan struggled against them.
NorthEast United FC will host Hyderabad FC in Guwahati on Super Sunday. The Highlanders will look to forget their heartbreaking 5-0 defeat against East Bengal last week and try to get back to winning ways.
They shall also try to maintain their strong run of form at home come Sunday. Ahead of the match, NorthEast United FC’s head coach Juan Pedro Benali addressed the media and shared their thoughts. Here’s what he said:
Message to team after the last game
As mentioned earlier NorthEast United were handed a demoralising defeat in Kolkata. The head coach told the media about his message to the team after a forgetful outing. He said, “Nothing special to say. It was an accident and we hope that it was only one time. We need to keep going and keep working as we are. And we need to show it on the field that we are good,”
Thoughts on Hyderabad FC
The Spaniard shared his thoughts on Hyderabad FC and termed them to be a very dangerous and tough team to play against.
“They are a very dangerous team. They have very good players. It is not an easy team to play against and it will not be an easy game. Even Mohun Bagan struggled to score against them. We don’t see who is where on the table. The most important thing is the game,” he asserted.
Team Unity
When asked about his side’s unity as a team especially after such a big defeat in the last game, the head coach said that in his entire coaching career he has not seen many dressing rooms like NorthEast United’s.
“I will tell you something very important. In 26 years as a head coach I’ve seen only a few dressing rooms like this. They are friends and always together. If one player is down, the others will help him,” he stated.
Message to the fans
Sharing a message for the fans, Juan Pedro Benali said that the team is sorry for the previous loss and they will do everything to make the fans proud on Sunday.
“We are sorry for this one. We keep going, we keep working hard, they need to trust us. This is football and we hope we can win all the games and we are building a team. We cannot go from nothing to everything, there are steps to it. We hope to see them supporting us tomorrow and we will make them proud,” he signed off.
