ISL 2023-24: NorthEast United to host bottom-placed Hyderabad FC
It has been 1,494 days since NorthEast United last defeated Hyderabad FC.
Super Sunday takes us to Guwahati as NorthEast United FC return to their base after a heartbreaking defeat in Kolkata last week. They will face off against the former ISL champions Hyderabad FC who are also going through a tough phase.
It will be the ninth league game for both sides as football returns to Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. On that note, let us take a look at how things stand ahead of the game in Guwahati.
The Stakes
NorthEast United FC
The stakes are very high for NorthEast United as they return to their home ground after a demoralising away defeat to East Bengal last week. The Highlanders were torn to shreds and were handed a humiliating 5-0 defeat at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Their last game was very different from how they have played this season. The intent and the hunger to make things happen was missing in the Highlanders’ camp. However, they are still in the top six and will look to get back to winning ways on Sunday.
Hyderabad FC
Hyderabad FC have a lot to deal with at the moment. Their problems both on and off the pitch have impacted their performances. They are yet to win a game this season and are currently placed last on the table.
Two of their foreign players have already left the club due to their personal reasons which leaves them with just four overseas players available for the game on Sunday. Moreover, they are also serving a transfer ban by FIFA. In short, they are under a lot of chaos.
Team and Injury News
Mohammed Ali Bemmamer will be available for NorthEast United after missing out on the last game. Hyderabad FC will miss the services of Mexican defender Oswaldo Alanis and Brazilian forward Felipe Amorim who have left the club.

Players to watch
Mohammed Ali Bemammmer (NorthEast United FC)
The defensive midfielder will return to the starting line-up after serving a suspension in the last game. His absence was quite notable in the middle of the park. And NorthEast United did struggle without their number 6. He has been a consistent performer for the Highlanders and is responsible for controlling the tempo of the game.
Joao Victor (Hyderabad FC)
The skipper has been one of the best players for his side in this crisis ridden situation. He has dropped in consistent performances ever since the start of the season and will look to continue the same on Sunday. Victor is great with his ball distribution and his ball recoveries and has been an impactful player for the Nizams.
