Mohun Bagan extend their unbeaten run in the ISL, courtesy this win.
In quite an enthralling and gripping fixture, Mohun Bagan once again gave a testament of their unmatchable might and solidity, as they dismantled NorthEast United away from home.
The Highlanders started on a great note, as Phalguni Singh handed them a surprising lead with a quite venomous strike. The Reds seemed to be in control of the tie, but a disastrous mistake by Mirshad Michu helped Bagan to restore parity in the tie. Mohun Bagan went on to score their second, and all the hopes of a draw got tarnished when Tondonba Singh got his marching orders, and a third goal was scored in the upcoming minutes by the Mariners.
Here are the ratings from the game.
Northeast United (By Keshava Verma)
Mirshad Michu – 4.5
Made a horrendous mistake to concede the first goal, and kept his far post completely unguarded for the third. His distribution was also pathetic.
Tondonba Singh – 4
Was lunging in unnecessary tackles and challenges, and ultimately got a red card. Wasn’t very impactful in the back as well.
Michel Zabaco – 7
Had an underwhelming game in accordance to his reputation, and misjudged Mohun Bagan’s plays at times. Completely failed to mark Jason Cummings for the second goal, but worked really hard overall.
Yaser Hamed – 6
Failed to impress yet again, as he looked very confused at the back. Made a few good interceptions though, and was subbed early into the second half.
Dinesh Singh – 5.5
Completely failed to understand the game at times, and played some unexplainable passes and long balls. However, he was successful in keeping the pressure on Liston Colaco, and gave the winger a tough time.
Konsam Phalguni Singh – 7.5
Scored an absolute banger to give NorthEast the unexpected lead in the opening few minutes. Was decent with his passing, and pressed tirelessly throughout the game.
Macarton Nickson – 7
Was impressive in his first start for the Highlanders, and made pretty decent plays in the midfield.
Mohammed Ali Bemammer – 6.5
Struggled in trying to stop an unformidable Mohun Bagan attack. However, he played some great forward balls, and also gave a lot of support to the defence.
Huidrom Thoi Singh – 6
Had a bright start to the game, but slowly deteriorated towards the end of the first half. Was unsure with his passing at times, and struggled to get into his groove.
Jithin MS – 7
Made some lethal runs from the wings, and was pretty creative with his plays. Combined well with Nestor Albiach and Macarton, and caused havoc in the first half.
Nestor Albiach – 6.5
Had a bittersweet evening. Would be gutted for not having a greater impact in front of goal, but was pretty satisfactory with his quick-play and play-making.
Substitutes

Failed to create any attacking impact whatsoever, and couldn’t get very involved in the game after coming on.
