ISL 2023-24: Punjab FC vs Chennaiyin FC – Build-up

Punjab FC host Chennaiyin FC in their 11th game of the ongoing ISL 2023-24 season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The host Punjab FC have not yet tasted the victory in the competition and will again hope for fortunes to turn in their favour. The Shers lost their last encounter against Kerala Blasters 1-0 with a goal from Dimitros Diamantakos.

Meanwhile Chennaiyin, have steaded the ship after their poor start in the competition. The Marina Machans are undefeated across the last four games and have won their last game against Bengaluru FC away from home.  

The stakes for Punjab FC are quite obvious, they need to get their first win of the campaign playing at home. Staikos Vergetis’ side are finding their comfort in defending the goals but offensively the team is not confident to commit more men. The team seems to be in a mental  stigma during the offensive movements  which is the biggest cause of concern for Staikos Vergetis.

Chennaiyin FC will look to further strengthen their place with a win in the top 6 which will earn a playoff spot to the side going further in the competition. Owen Coyle despite having not the best squad at his disposal, has found a way to churn out results and in the upcoming game against Punjab FC Owen Coyle would want nothing less than three points.
