Odisha FC owner Rohan Sharma shared an emotional note on club President Raj Athwal’s birthday!
Odisha FC owner, Rohan Sharma, expressed his birthday wishes to club President Raj Athwal on Twitter (X). In his message, Sharma shared some valuable insights about Athwal’s remarkable work and unwavering dedication to the club.
In a thread of tweets, Sharma at first mentioned about the friendship he shares with the President. He wrote, “Raj has been more than my right hand. He’s been a good friend and colleague. Since he joined in 2020 we have shared many ups and downs together.”
A team functions based on the trust that each member has in one another. Sharma’s tweet serves as a compelling testament to the immense trust he places in Raj Athwal. He mentioned, “He’s one of two people on earth who knows what I go through on a daily basis with OFC. We speak to each other before and after every game, during the week, weekends, holidays whenever. He works very hard and helps make the club run smoothly. ”
“The reason I left Odisha is because I knew I could trust him to treat the club with the same love and passion I have for it. Raj is the water to my fire and I always feel we bring out the best in each other. I’m always appreciative of his efforts and I’m so happy to see the work he’s put in pay off this year,” he added further.
Odisha’s FC rise to brilliance
In the span of four years, since the club’s establishment in Bhubaneswar, Odisha FC have achieved several milestones during their participation in various championships in the past couple of years.
Last season, they achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the playoffs of the AFC Cup. They further secured a remarkable victory by clinching the prestigious Super Cup title, surpassing Bengaluru FC in the final.
In the ongoing season, their performance has been exemplary, as evidenced by their triumph over Mohun Bagan Super Giant at the Salt Lake Stadium in the AFC Cup. They are on the cusp of advancing to the next round of the championship if they beat Bashundhara Kings in their final group game.
Furthermore, they currently occupy the third position in the points table of the 2023-24 Indian Super League, amassing a commendable tally of 13 points from seven games.
