Japan are the most successful team in the AFC Asian Cup.
In a highly anticipated AFC Asian Cup 2023 Final showdown at Lusail Stadium, Qatar and Jordan clashed in a battle for Asian football supremacy. The match saw Qatar emerge victorious, propelled by Akram Afif’s exceptional performance. Afif’s hat-trick of penalties proved decisive, securing Qatar’s triumph over Jordan. Despite Jordan’s efforts, they couldn’t contain Qatar’s relentless attack. The victory marked a memorable moment in Qatar’s football history, cementing their status as champions once again.
All the football fanatics of Asia will be treated to delight with the onset of the contest just within a fortnight of the New Year break. The stage is all set as the likes of the Asian footballing stars such as Sunil Chhetri, Chanathip Songkrasin, Ali Mabkhout, Alisher Dzhalilov, and Omar Khrbin among others will be seen donning their national crests; they will be taking the stage with sharing the same resolve. The tournament will be played with 24 teams in the fray who have qualified for the main event after witnessing some of the most astounding face-offs in the Qualification round.
Australia’s head coach Graham Arnold has high hopes for his boys after he was surprised by their potential during the 2022 FIFA World Cup which was held in Qatar. The tactician has also decided to blood the new generation to nurture Australia’s footballing dreams.
In an attempt to develop a new generation, Arnold left out a few FIFA World Cup players, with veterans like Mathew Leckie, Jamie Maclaren, Bailey Wright, and Milos Degenek either hurt or out of form. Rather, the likes of three uncapped players, Patrick Yazbek and youth forward John Iredale who play for Sydney FC, and Gethin Jones, a former Wales youth international, were called up.
On the contrary, Japan will be entering the contest as the top-ranked Asian side with Sunil Chhetri’s Blue Tigers being one of the most highly anticipated sides following their substantial growth under Igor Stimac in the past year. The Final game is scheduled to be played on the 10February 2024, at the breathtaking Lusail Stadium.
