Atlético Madrid in talks to extend Antoine Griezmann's contract

Griezmann has been linked with a move to Manchester United
Atletico Madrid president has confirmed that they are looking to extend Antoine Griezmann’s contract with the club amid Manchester United links.
Atlético Madrid president Cerezo: “We are in talks to extend the contract of Antoine Griezmann, we are very confident. Negotiations are well underway and advancing”.
Antoine Griezmann has stifled rumours that he wants to join Manchester United by announcing that he wants to establish himself as a “legend” at Atletico Madrid.
According to recent Spanish media sources, Griezmann may have a contract release clause of under €25 million (£21.7 million) if United decides to pursue him. It is believed that Erik ten Hag would want an additional seasoned forward to assist 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund.

Griezmann, a French international who is now playing for Atleti, would be a good fit at age 32. After posting a strong 31 goal total in the league the previous season, he has already scored eight goals and provided one assist in 12 La Liga games this season.
Having Griezmann at the centre of their squad, Diego Simeone’s team is solidly in the running for the La Liga championship this season. Furthermore, the 2018 World Cup victor says he can’t wait to return home with trophies from the Spanish city.
Griezmann, 32, is having one of his greatest seasons yet with Atletico. Antoine Griezmann is the Champion of Atletico, and he might have been without a doubt the MVP of the entire league if it weren’t for Jude Bellingham’s explosive start to life in Spain. Griezmann leads La Liga this year with a combined total of 12.63 anticipated goals along with anticipated assists.
Griezmann plays a big part in why Atletico Madrid is such a goal mill these days. Since Griezmann’s comeback, Diego Simeone has changed his strategy to give Atlético more possession of the ball, and the 31-year-old now leads the entire attack.
This season, the Frenchman has a more set place but still plays a free role, essentially choosing where and how to impact the match.
