Chelsea injury update ahead of Premier League clash against Wolves
Fernandez becomes latest Chelsea star to join club injury list
Chelsea have to deal with plenty of injuries this season. Here is Chelsea injury update ahead of their trip to the Molineux.
Enzo Fernandez
Fernandez was substituted after just thirty minutes by Armando Broja. Although the Argentine was reportedly sick, the midfield player was clutching his thigh when he talked to Pochettino.
Levi Colwill
Malo Gusto substituted Levi Colwill at the break, and Colwill was taken off the pitch. Some supporters speculated that Colwill was worn out after the defender appeared to take a knock in the first half of the match against Newcastle.
Robert Sanchez
Despite sustaining a knee injury in the loss to Manchester United, the goalie was cleared to play against Everton. However, Sanchez’s injury worsened after he went down during the second half, forcing him to be substituted by Petrovic.
Possible return date: January/February 2024.
Marc Cucurella
The left-back gave fans a brief update on his recovery on social media yesterday night. Two images revealed the star hobbling on crutches and with a cast placed over his left ankle, which he sustained during training previously this past week.
Possible return date: Unknown
Reece James
James’ injury issues persisted at Everton even after returning to full fitness last month. In less than thirty-five minutes, he had been substituted by Levi Colwill and headed immediately towards the tunnel at Goodison Park.
Possible return date: February/March 2024
Romeo Lavia
Lavia hasn’t made his Blues debut yet and has been dealing with an ankle injury since moving to Stamford Bridge. The young midfield player’s recovery suffered a significant obstacle last month, delaying his projected return date.
Possible return date: Wolves (A) – Sunday, December 24
Noni Madueke
Madueke did not enter the game as a substitute; instead, he ended up on the bench against Brighton. He was ruled from the Merseyside team entirely, but his name was taken off the injury list before Everton.
Possible return date: Wolves (A) – Sunday, December 24
Lesley Ugochukwu
Another player who did not play versus United was Ugochukwu, who sustained a slight injury following the Brighton encounter. The young player was also left out of the squad that played the Seagulls and was ineligible for the matches against Manchester United and Everton.
Possible return date: Wolves (A) – Sunday, December 24

Ben Chilwell
Chilwell was knocked down towards the end of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup match against Brighton in September. Regretfully for the Blues defence, the team soon discovered that the muscle problem was more serious than initially believed.
Possible return date: Unknown
Trevoh Chalobah
Chalobah has been recovering from a thigh injury, which has prevented him from playing for Chelsea this year. Though he was spotted working out in the Cobham gym, it appears that he will not be playing anytime soon. Now that he’s back, he appears to be working out on the grass alone, not with his colleagues.
Possible return date: Unknown
Carney Chukwuemeka
After taking a knock before the match against Arsenal, Chukwuemeka came off the bench to play against Burnley; however, the midfield player has now suffered another setback. He had trouble with a knee injury that he sustained early in the season against West Ham United.
Possible return date: Unknown
Wesley Fofana
Fofana tore his ACL during preseason workouts, meaning he will miss most of the season. Despite this, he has resumed working out on the Cobham pitches.
Possible return date: April 2024
