Chelsea lead charts for most losses in Premier League in 2023
Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolves
Chelsea had new ownership at the start of 2023 and that looked like a positive boost at the London club. New American ownership brought a lot of money and resources to the Bridge.
The Blue signed plenty of players in the summer and winter transfer of the calendar year. Chelsea fans had a lot of hope that they could return to their glory days.
However, after their ambitious takeover, things never worked in favour of the Blues. Todd Boehly’s team finished outside European places at the end of the 2022-23 season. This is followed by an abysmal start to the current campaign.
As the 2023 year is ending, the London-based club has created another poor record. Chelsea suffered their 19th defeat in the Premier League for the year 2023. This is not what the fans and management will like.
Spanish outfit Almeria holds that unwanted record after 24 defeats in 2023, while German side Werder Bremen and Serie A’s Empoli are tied on 20 each.

Mauricio Pochetinno’s men are currently 10th in the league standings and ended the 2022-23 season in 12th place.
Chelsea boss couldn’t hide his frustration after another disappointing result on Christmas Eve, as goals from Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty earned Wolves a 2-1 win, with their second goal coming three minutes into second-half stoppage time, just before Christopher Nkunku’s even later consolation.
“We spoke a lot earlier in the season, it’s a group of players and we are a young team,” Pochettino told Sky Sports after the game. “That doesn’t mean we are young in age but we are a young team. Some are playing in the Premier League for the first time and they need a moment to adapt.
“It is about confidence and quality, too many things. We should score if we want to win games. We feel very disappointed. I am disappointed also because in the first five minutes of the second half, we conceded too many corners.”
