How many matches will Andre Onana miss for Man United while at AFCON 2023
Andre Onana has conceded 43 goals this season
Manchester United will be without Andre Onana for the majority of next month and maybe February as well as the player is set to join Cameroon for the upcoming AFCON 2023.
The Manchester United goalkeeper has been named in the Cameroon squad ahead of the tournament, which starts in the Ivory Coast on January 13.
Onana, a £43 million summer signing from Inter Milan, has indicated he will participate but, according to ESPN, wants to limit his time away from Old Trafford as much as possible.
Cameroon are set to hold a warm-up camp in Saudi Arabia, where they will play a friendly against Zambia on January 9.
However, Onana is keen to make himself available for Man United’s FA Cup third-round tie against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on January 8. Cameroon begin their AFCON campaign against Guinea on January 15.
After the Wigan Athletic game, Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur on January 14. If they manage to win their FA Cup tie, then the Red Devils will play in the fourth round on the 27th or 28th.

Erik ten Hag’s men will face Wolves on February 1, West Ham United on February 4 and then Aston Villa on 11 February.
This means that Onana will miss at least two to three matches during the group stage phase. If Cameroon qualify for the knockout stage then Man United’s No. 1 will be out for more time.
Onana retired from international duty during the World Cup in Qatar before returning in September. Once he joins up with Rigobert Song’s squad for AFCON, Erik ten Hag will have to hand a first-team debut to second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The 25-year-old hasn’t played for his new club since his summer move from Fenerbahce, but featured for Turkey during the last international break.
