Top five clubs with most Premier League away wins against Tottenham Hotspur
Clubs with most away wins against Spurs in English top-flight
In the Premier League 2023-24, only two teams were undefeated after 10 matchdays. The two teams were Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspurs. But eventually matchday 11 first saw Arsenal fall to Newcastle at St James’ Park. This was good news for the Spurs fanbase as they were the only PL team with 0 defeats on the table. However, matchday 11 of the PL games was set to close with Tottenham playing hosts to Chelsea. And the unasked for result happened.
Chelsea recorded a 4-1 away win. This win at Spurs’s home now ranks as the 7th heaviest defeat for Tottenham by any visitor in PL history. The result has also updated the standing of clubs with the most Premier League away wins against Tottenham Hotspur in history.
Aston Villa – 7 away wins
At the number five spot, we have Aston Villa who have collected all three points a total of 7 times during their visit to Tottenham Hotspur home in the Premier League. The Villans have outperformed Arsenal and Man City in this regard, as both of them only have 6 away wins at Spurs home. Arsenal, Man City and Aston Villa have visited Spurs in the PL era for 32, 26 and 28 times respectively.
Even though North London derby rivals, Arsenal have had the most number of games among the three, it is The Villans that have led the winnings.

Liverpool – 11 away wins
Liverpool have done the damage on Tottenham Hotspurs backyard a record 11 times. They have played the role of visitors for 32 straight consecutive seasons as both teams have never been relegated even once in the Premier League yet.
One particular visit by The Reds has proven to have left a deep scar. It was a matchday 16 fixture of the 2013-14 PL season. Spurs couldn’t do anything but soak in the 5-0 home defeat. This is also their second-heaviest home defeat in Premier League history.
The goals were scored by Luis Suárez, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan. Suárez scored a brace that day.
Newcastle United – 11 away wins
The Magpies were tied with Liverpool in the number of away wins they have recorded against Tottenham Hotspur. But Newcastle United have had the upper hand given they have achieved this number on fewer visits. It took Liverpool 32 away games while Newcastle United have done this in their only 28 travels.
The Magpies have also proven to be a stern opposition for the Spurs team. In March 2008, White Hart Lane was set to host matchday 32 with the away side being Newcastle United. By the final whistle, the 4-1 result proved to be too good for the visitors. To date, it is the eighth-heaviest PL home defeat for Spurs.
Manchester United – 15 away wins
Matchday 26 of the 2006-07 season, more than 36,000 spectators were in attendance at the White Hart Lane stadium. It was officiated by Consett, England-born and brought up Mark Clattenburg. The game has proven to be one of the most difficult memories to erase from the hearts of Tottenham fans.
With 45 minutes over, the game stood 0-0 until Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down in the penalty area. The Red Devils opened the score by Ronaldo’s penalty. Later goals by Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nemanja Vidic made it 4-0.
So far in 32 visits to Tottenham in the PL era, United have recorded 15 wins, 10 draws and just 7 defeats.
Chelsea – 15 away wins
The Blues from West London registered a shocking win on matchday 11 of the 2023-24 Premier League season. Not only because in the course of their troubled season they managed to defeat Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, but they did it with style. Spurs were the only side undefeated before this game was played in the PL. However, as things stand Chelsea’s 4-1 win has taken their all-time PL away win to Spurs record to 15.
If we compare it with Manchester United, the Blues have had a better goal-difference (GD) record. Both sides have the same proportions of win, draw and loss records. And have had the chance to play 32 times as visitors to Tottenham. Chelsea demonstrated their flair with +18 GD in their 32 visits while the Red Devils managed a balance of +11 GD.
