Jordan held mighty South Korea for a draw.

The ninth day of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 concluded with two matches; one resulted in a decisive victory, while the other ended in a draw.

All the teams from Group E had their matches scheduled on 20th of January. In the first match, Jordan ended their match in a draw with South Korea with 2-2 goals while Bahrain won their match against Malaysia by 1-0 goal.

Group A 

Qatar is currently leading Group A with two victories in two matches, followed by China in second place. Tajikistan holds the third position, while Lebanon is situated at fourth place within the group.

Group B 

In Group B, Australia currently holds the top position with two consecutive victories. Uzbekistan follows closely in second place with one win and a draw in their two matches. Syria occupies the third position with a draw in two matches, while India trails in fourth place without a single win. 

Group C

Iran leads Group C with six points from two matches, closely followed by the United Arab Emirates with four points. Palestine currently occupies the third position, while Hong Kong sits at the fourth place.

Group D

In Group D, Iraq currently holds the first position with six points, while Japan and Indonesia are tied for the second position with three points each. Vietnam holds the fourth position and is yet to secure a point in the tournament.

Group E

After the recent matches, Group E has been updated. Both Jordan and South Korea have accumulated four points from two matches each. However, Jordan currently holds the top position due to a superior goal difference. Following closely, Bahrain holds the third position with three points. Malaysia finds itself in fourth place, having not secured a victory in the tournament.

Group F

The Group F matches are slated to take place on the 21st of January. Following these matches, there may be alterations in the teams’ placement in the group table. Currently, Thailand holds the top position, followed by Saudi Arabia in second place, Oman in third, and Kyrgyzstan in fourth.

The list of top goal scorers remained unchanged after the 22nd match of the tournament.

2. Aymen Hussein (Iraq) – 3 goals

3. Jackson Irvine (Australia) – 2 goals

4. Takumi Minamino (Japan) – 2 goals

5. Sultan Adil Mohamed (UAE) – 2 goals

In the list of top assist providers, Almoez Ali, Saman Ghoddos, and Yazan Abdallah Alnaimat are leading the chart with two assists each.

2. Saman Ghoddos (Iran) – 2 assists

3. Yazan Abdallah Alnaimat (Jordan) – 2 assists

4. Takumi Minamino (Japan) – 1 assist

5. Wataru Endo (Japan) – 1 assist
