ISL 2023-24: Odisha FC Secures Goalkeeper Anuj Kumar from Hyderabad FC
Goalkeeper joins The Juggernauts in final-hour of deadline day
In a significant move in the Indian football transfer market on the deadline day, Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Anuj Kumar is set to embark on a new chapter in his career with Odisha FC, signing a multi-year contract. Khel Now can exclusively confirm. The deal between the two clubs involves Odisha FC paying an undisclosed transfer fee to Hyderabad FC.
The ongoing financial constraints at Hyderabad FC prompted the player and his management to explore new opportunities, ultimately leading to an agreement with Odisha FC.
Anuj Kumar, an alumnus of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) elite academy, featured three times for Hyderabad FC over the last two and a half seasons. Anuj Kumar’s journey to this point includes multiple loan stints with I-League clubs such as the Indian Arrows, Aizawl FC, and Real Kashmir, showcasing his versatility and gaining valuable experience in different footballing environments.
Odisha FC in the January Transfer Window
Odisha FC has been proactive in the transfer market, bolstering their squad with strategic signings. Before Anuj Kumar, the club secured the services of Vignesh Dakshinamurthy on loan and inked a 2.5-year deal with Hitesh Sharma. Meanwhile, the departure of Isaac Vanmalsawma, who joined Punjab FC on a short-term contract, was confirmed by Khel Now earlier in the day.
Sergio Lobera and his Odisha FC squad, eager to bounce back from a recent defeat in the Super Cup Final, are gearing up to face Kerala Blasters at Bhubaneswar on 2nd February in the upcoming phase of the Indian Super League.
