Kalinga Super Cup an opportunity to prove ourselves, says Sreenidi Deccan boss Carlos Vaz Pinto

Sreenidi Deccan have been placed in a tough group alongside Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal, and rivals Hyderabad FC.
Sreenidi Deccan remain the top placed I-League team who are going to participate in the 2024 Kalinga Super Cup, as Mohammedan SC and Real Kashmir have withdrawn from the tournament.
The Hyderabad-based outfit is placed in Group A alongside East Bengal, Hyderabad FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant and are going to play their first match on January 9, 2024, against Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
Before the commencement of the group stage, during the pre-tournament press conference, the head coach of Sreenidi Deccan, Carlos Vaz Pinto, appeared enthusiastic as he articulated how this tournament would serve as a platform for their players to demonstrate their capabilities.
A stage to prove our worth
Undoubtedly, the Kalinga Super Cup serves as a platform for young players to demonstrate their abilities on the field; many clubs will assess their depth during these matches too!
Carlos Vaz Pinto sighted the importance of the tournament and said, “This is an opportunity for us to prove ourselves. We performed well in the last edition of this tournament and we’ll look to perform in the same way this time too.”
About the opponents
Sreenidi Deccan are engulfed by top ISL sides in their group. The I-League team is likely to face significant challenges in overcoming these teams during their matches. While they will undoubtedly demonstrate resilience, achieving victory will necessitate their utmost efforts.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that they emerged victorious against Kerala Blasters and secured a draw against Bengaluru FC in the preceding edition.
When asked about the teams in the group, the tactician delivered a simple yet determined reply: “We have all the quality teams in the group. Our focus is very simple. We are just looking forward to facing them on the field.”
