Bayern Munich remain interested in Joao Palhinha; club looking for new right-back in January confirm CEO

Joao Palhinha came close to joining the Bundesliga outfit last summer
Joao Palhinha of Fulham saw a last-minute deal to Bayern Munich fall through during the summer transfer window, and the midfielder has since spoken about his future.
The Portuguese had already departed for Munich and begun posing for photos wearing the Bayern uniform when Fulham cancelled the agreement because they were unable to find another player.
After that, the 28-year-old was questioned several times if the German champions were nevertheless interested in signing him, and they always implied that he was still a target.
Palhinha ultimately inked a new contract with Fulham, where he would stay until 2028 with a one-year option, following the failure of his effort to sign with Bayern Munich.
Bayern will undoubtedly need to pay more for the midfield player due to the new contract if they decide to try to recruit the Portuguese again.
Palhinha’s chances of making a winter transfer look slim, but it’s feasible that Bayern will make another attempt at Fulham in the summer of 2024 to secure the midfield player.

However, Bayern chief Dreesen hasn’t ruled out the Portuguese signing and said: “Yes, I confirm that. You should never rule anything out. January? Our focus is currently on the right-back position”.
According to reports, Palhinha considers Bayern Munich to be his “dream club” and is unwilling to play for another team. Although the player is still hopeful that Fulham will allow him to depart this month, everything depends on the English side reaching a consensus over the transfer fee.
This move is important for Thomas Tuchel because it constitutes the star midfielder for the defence addition he has been requesting. Following months of criticism about Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich’s failings, Bayern was expected to use the winter transfer window to sign Palhinha and show their support for the coach.
