AFCON 2023: Morocco register comfortable win against 10-man Tanzania

Tanzania ended the match with 10 men on the field
FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinalists Morocco started their campaign with a 3-0 win over Tanzania in their AFCON 2023 opener. Senegal were the only team to score three goals in the 2023 edition to date.
This is a perfect start for one of the top contenders to lift the African crown. Tanzania ended the match with 10 men after Novatus Miroshi was sent off for receiving two yellow cards.
Morocco settled well into the match and took the lead through defender, Romain Saiss. The Al Shabab defender scored from a set-piece situation from inside the penalty box. Hoalid Regragui’s men ended the first half with a 1-0 lead.
Both teams were going hard in challenges and received two bookings each inside the first 25 minutes of the second half. Novatus Miroshi received his second booking in the 70th minute and Tanzania were a man short on the field for the last 20-25 minutes.
The Moroccan team took full advantage of the situation. Marseille’s midfielder Azzedine Ounahi scored the second goal in the 77th minute. Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli was in the assists column.
Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri also marked his first match in this season’s tournament with a goal. Achraf Hakimi also got his first assist of the season.
