AFCON 2023 Quarter-finals: Updated Schedule, date, time, telecast & more

Morocco and Senegal are already out of AFCON
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023), which is currently in its knockout stages, is being hosted by Ivory Coast for the second time ever.
Senegal were tipped to win the tournament out of all 24 participating countries, but a string of unexpected outcomes has thrown the defending champions around. Both World Cup semi-finals Morocco and Egypt, the previously defeated finalists, who were widely predicted to advance all the way, have been eliminated.
Nigeria vs. Angola, DR Congo vs. Guinea, Mali vs. Ivory Coast, and Cape Verde vs. South Africa make up the quarterfinal matchup.
Despite taking place in 2024, the competition is officially known as Afcon 2023. This is because it was postponed for many months because of worries about the intense summer heat in Senegal.
Angola advanced to play Nigeria in the quarterfinals after rallying for a 3-0 victory over Namibia on Saturday. On January 27, Nigeria triumphed 2-0 over their rivals, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
In the quarterfinal match on Friday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Angola’s Palancas Negras, two-time quarterfinalists, will provide a tough test for the Super Eagles.
Many upsets occurred in the round of 16, including defeats of Cameroon and Egypt, two of the leading candidates. In the final group of 16 matches, host Ivory Coast pulled off another significant upset by defeating defending champion Senegal on penalties.
The host team won 5-4 and wild celebrations began in Charles Konan Banny Stadium afterwards when Senegal defender Moussa Niakhate missed the titleholder’s third penalty in the shootout.
