AFCON 2023: List of all referees

Officials at AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast
Following the AFCON 2023 qualifiers, 32 referees were hand-picked by CAF for the pre-match activities before the AFCON 2023 games.
For AFCON 2023, CAF also revealed the identities of 12 video assistants (VAR) and 30 assistant referees.
Only Algerian Mustapha Ghorbal, one of the six African referees who refereed at the 2022 World Cup, will be among those participating in the competition. Unfortunately, Janny Sikazwe of Zambia and Victor Gomes of South Africa, who officiated the most recent AFCON final, quit their jobs after the World Cup, therefore they will not be playing.
Particularly dropped from the roster are Senegalese Maguette Ndiaye, Rwandan Salima Mukansanga, and Gambian Bakary Gassama, who came under fire for his controversial officiating during the Algeria-Cameroon encounter in March 2022.
Along with other significant absences like Moroccan Redouane Jayed and Botswana’s Joshua Bondo, who has been on punishment since last April, their absence creates a vacuum in the list.
Meanwhile, two well-known figures have been chosen as match referees at AFCON 2024: local Ivorian Kalilou Ibrahim and Ethiopian Bamlak Tessema Weyesa.
