Man United forward Anthony Martial out for up to 10 weeks after undergoing groin surgery

Anthony Martial future at Man United remains uncertain after the club decided to avoid renewing his deal
Following groyne surgery, Anthony Martial was sidelined for ten weeks before suffering another injury setback. Since making a high-profile transfer from Monaco in 2015, the Frenchman’s tenure at Old Trafford has been marred by injuries, especially in the last couple of seasons.
This season, he has only managed one goal in the Premier League, and his most recent game was a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth in December.
Anthony Martial, a forward for Manchester United, would likely need to miss a significant amount of time due to groyne surgery. United posted a statement on their website stating that the Frenchman is expected to be out for approximately ten weeks.
“We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and look forward to his return,” the club added.
Since moving from Monaco to Manchester in 2015 for £57.6 million, Martial has battled a number of injuries.
Due to his most recent injury, the attacker may not be able to play until at least April before his Old Trafford employment expires in the summer.
This means that as Erik ten Hag’s team battles for a spot in Europe the following year, he is anticipated to miss crucial games against West Ham, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
Given the severity of the injury and the length of time he is anticipated to be out, Martial might be able to recover in time for the team’s April 1 trip to Chelsea before the final push.

His final game for the team was a 56-minute stint in December’s shocking 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, where he was replaced by Rasmus Hojlund.
Since then, illness has kept him out of games with Aston Villa, West Ham, and Liverpool.
Additionally, he was left off the roster for United’s matches against Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, where they only managed one victory out of five.
The 28-year-old will not be able to play for United on Sunday when they travel to Newport County for their FA Cup third-round match against Wigan Athletic. He also missed that match earlier in the season.
Under Ten Hag, Martial has had difficulty being fired since the Dutch manager came over at Old Trafford at the start of the 2022–2023 season.
