Barcelona favourites to land Mason Greenwood next summer ahead of Atletico Madrid & Getafe

Mason Greenwood is currently on loan to Getafe
Greenwood, 22, has five goals this season and is now on loan at Getafe in LaLiga. He has to finalise an ongoing move after the term, though, as his parent team, Manchester United, have declared he won’t be playing for them any longer.
Following severe claims, Manchester United and Mason Greenwood reached a mutual decision to part ways, with the Premier League team conducting an internal probe.
The England forward was indicted with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury after his detention in January 2022. In February 2023, all accusations were withdrawn.
After departing Old Trafford, Greenwood, who still has 18 months left on his United contract, has been connected to both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Once his loan agreement expires in June, Getafe is also considering bringing him to a long-term contract.
However, a source close to The Sun claims that Greenwood would prefer a “dream move” to Barcelona. Although an agreement hasn’t been reached yet, United are committed to selling the player. “The view is that all parties should have a clean break,” stated a source.

Greenwood is said to be worth approximately £40 million to the Red Devils, with add-ons incorporated in any transaction. According to the source, the player is “focused on further making a name for himself in La Liga” by leading Getafe to a strong finish in the standings at the end of the season.
It is stated that Barcelona “sent scouts to watch Greenwood six times” and “thinks Greenwood would make a thrilling acquisition for the fans.” It has been “overwhelmingly positive” according to sources.
Greenwood hopes to line up for England once more in the future, according to the source. In September 2020, he earned his lone senior cap against Iceland, however, he was returned home for violating COVID regulations. The forward is qualified to play for Jamaica as well.
Greenwood is being pursued by Barcelona, but Getafe is determined to keep him in Madrid.
