Both strikers are open to move back to Europe

Chelsea are reportedly putting up spectacular summer moves for Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino to remedy their striking problems.

With Christopher Nkunku out and Nicolas Jackson in the Afcon, the Blues are having trouble scoring goals. With nine goals in all competitions thus far this campaign, including the game-winning goal against Fulham on Saturday, Cole Palmer leads the team in scoring.

However, barely six months after the two relocated to the Middle East, The Telegraph reports that Chelsea is considering surprise loan moves for two Saudi Pro League strikers during the January transfer window.

Benzema, 36, played for Real Madrid for 14 seasons and scored an amazing 354 goals in 648 matches.

At the Bernabeu, the Frenchman took home 25 trophies, five of which were Champions League titles. But he departed Los Blancos this past summer to move to Saudi Arabia, signing with Al-Ittihad on free transfers.

Benzema has made 24 appearances for the Saudi club, scoring 15 goals. Firmino hasn’t had the same kind of success since moving to Saudi Arabia, though.

After leaving Liverpool, the 32-year-old signed an agreement for three years worth £300,000 per week to stay with Al-Ahli until 2026.

The Brazilian lost his spot in the starting lineup and the captain’s armband after his goalless run of 18 matches after scoring a hat-trick on his debut.

He was connected to Fulham and Sheffield United, but according to SunSport, his pay was a stumbling issue.

In his 16 Premier League games for Liverpool, Firmino has only scored twice against Chelsea, both of which came during the 2019–20 campaign.Strangely, Benzema has scored three times as many goals versus the Blues.

And those six goals have come from just six games for three years, including three Champions League knockout matches.
