Jose Mourinho was sacked by AS Roma after leading them UEFA Conference League

Following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal, former AS Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi is now expected to take over as the team’s temporary manager.

After losing to Milan, they were still in ninth place in the standings until the Portuguese coach was fired earlier today. They were eliminated from the competition after losing to Lazio in the Coppa Italia as well.

The midfielder De Rossi is rumoured to be moving to Roma, according to reports from Sky Italia. He is scheduled to sign a deal with the Giallorossi tomorrow to become the club’s next coach. Now all that’s missing from the contract are its concluding details.

The Italian will sign an accord that will last until the end of the current campaign, but if certain requirements are reached this year, De Rossi’s deal will have an option to extend.

De Rossi was fired from his last managerial position at SPAL after just a few months. However, he was a member of Roberto Mancini’s staff when they were both involved with the Italian national team.

Although De Rossi’s prize collection throughout his nearly two decades as a Roma player was comparatively small, with just two Italian Cups and the 2007 Italian Super Cup, he did win the World Cup with his team in 2006.

After spending less than a season in Argentina, he concluded his playing career at Boca Juniors in early 2020.

His tenure at SPAL last season lasted just four months, and the squad was demoted to the third division of Serie C. As a result, he has limited coaching experience.

After losing 3-1 against AC Milan on Sunday, Roma are currently five points off of the Champions League spots in ninth place in Serie A.

With 616 matches and 63 goals for the Giallorossi in every competition, De Rossi is a Roma legend. In terms of the club’s all-time participation track, he is ranked second.

The former midfield player praised Friedkins for giving him the opportunity and expressed his joy at taking on the role of manager.
