Egypt's Emam Ashour ruled out of AFCON 2023 RO16 match with concussion after trying backflip in training

Egypt have already lost Mohamed Salah to injury
Following today’s team training, Emam Ashour sustained a concussion and a brain injury, according to the Egyptian Football Association.
According to the statement, Ashour received emergency medical assistance from national team physician Mohamed Abou El-Ela. He was taken to the hospital right after and had all required testing done.
The player’s status is stable at this time, but the scans indicated that he had suffered a concussion. He will spend the next 24 hours in the hospital under medical care.
During the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Emam Ashour has been one of Egypt’s best players, starting all three group matches and making an impact against both Cape Verde and Ghana.
