Kevin De Bruyne has been linked with a move to Saudi clubs

Manchester City are hoping to extend Kevin De Bruyne’s contract as a way of saying “thank you” for his loyalty. De Bruyne could join the Saudi Pro League and make £1 million every week. The 33-year-old Belgian, though, is happy at the Etihad and lives in Manchester with his three small children.

De Bruyne’s current £375,000-per-week contract has eighteen months left on it. However, City intends to reach an agreement that will extend his contract until the summer of 2026 and surpass ten years of service.

After a five-month injury layoff, the longtime Chelsea midfielder made his comeback last week and helped the champions to a vital 3-2 victory at Newcastle scoring a goal and an assist.

De Bruyne thinks that his increased energy and focus are a result of the layoff. He declared:

“I might have needed that to get everything back on track. Mentally it has just become calm – having no stress for a few months makes a difference. Kevin is a legend. He is loved by our people and, hopefully, in the last months he can help us be there to the end.”

He added: “We need players like Kevin. We need him to do something special in the final third. That is not tactical ability but talent, individual talent. I think everybody agrees we made a really good performance against such a physical team in Newcastle.”

Manchester City paid Wolfsburg £55 million in 2015 for a player who didn’t work out at Chelsea, concerns were raised. De Bruyne, however, is a strong contender to be regarded as the finest midfield player of the Premier League era because of his five championships, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups, and the Champions League.
