Anirudh Thapa joined Mohun Bagan in summer 2023.
India international and Mohun Bagan Midfielder Anirudh Thapa shared a thank-you note to the fans and supporters of the historic club on his social media handles for their steadfast support. After two straight derby days between two distinct competitions, Mohun Bagan players returned to the field without being able to defeat their bitter rival, East Bengal. They lost 3-1 in the Super Cup semi-final with East Bengal’s Brazilian linchpin and skipper netting a brace against the Green & Maroons.
The second half of the Indian Super League hosted the Kolkata Derby just after the Super Cup’s onset. Both the teams shared a point each from the spoil with Dimitri Petratos and Armando Sadiku coming in for a clutch to save the Mariners’ boat.
In their next encounter, Anirudh Thapa and the Mariners’ Australian anchor Jason Cummings registered their names on the scoresheet against a deep-seated Hyderabad FC with both the goals coming in the first half of the game itself. Here’s what Anirudh Thapa has to say to his followers and admirers.
“Unforgettable moment scoring my first goal in front of our amazing home crowd! Massive respect to my teammates for their unwavering fighting spirit on the pitch! Let’s keep pushing forward together!”
Along with this precise appreciation note, he also shared moments from their game where he is seen celebrating with his teammates Jason Cummings, Manvir Singh, and Dimitri Petratos.
