Sachin Suresh had to be subbed off in the first half itself.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Indian Super League (ISL) side Kerala Blasters ever since the turn of the year. The Blasters are already dealing with so much both on and off the field and have now taken one more major hit as goalkeeper Sachin Suresh had to be subbed off following an injury in the first half of the game against Chennaiyin FC.
The three-time ISL runners up are currently playing an away game against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Although there has been no official communication from the club regarding the player’s injury, it did not look good at all. Sachin Suresh becomes the latest addition to Kerala Blasters’ long injury list.
Sachin Suresh suffers major injury?
By the looks of it, Sachin Suresh has suffered a possible shoulder dislocation following a collision with Farukh Choudhary (as per the English commentary on JioCinema by Pulasta Dhar and Erik Partaalu). It all began in the 34th minute while Chennaiyin FC had the ball possession and were looking to get an opening.
Ninthoi Meetei sent in a delicious cross from the right wing into the box and created a brilliant chance for the onrushing Farukh Choudhary to net it past the keeper. However, Ninthoi’s cross was neutralized by Sachin who put his body on the line and collected the ball in the second attempt.
And while making the first attempt to collect the ball, Sachin had a collision with Farukh and the ball slipped out of his hands. But, he was quick enough to jump onto it and get his hands on the ball in the second attempt.
It was a great piece of goalkeeping by the youngster but he injured himself in the process and had to be taken off on the stretcher. He received immediate medical attention, but had to be taken off the field considering the nature of the injury.
He was replaced by two-time ISL champion Karanjit Singh who took the field against his former side. Further details are awaited regarding the player’s injury.
