AFCON: List of all Golden Glove winners

A tight and sturdy defence is the key to winning any tournament. Goalkeepers play a key role in saving their side on many occasions and they can even win a tournament for their side.
AFCON has also witnessed some of the finest African shot-stoppers. These players have proven to be the difference makers in big matches.
The Africa Cup of Nations has seen plenty of drama over the years. There are irregularities in terms of rules and it is difficult to judge what will change next. When we talk about the best goalkeeper award, it has only been awarded six times, with the 2023 edition being the latest one.
AFCON Golden Glove Award started in 2008. Egypt’s Essam El-Hadary lifted the trophy and then won another one in the next tournament. In the next two tournaments, the award was not given to another player.
Ivory Coast won the tournament in 2015 and their goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo was the second goalkeeper to win this award. The 2017 edition also had no winner.
However, in the last three championships, a Golden Glove winner has been announced. Algeria’s Raai M’Bolhi won this award in 2019.
In 2021, Senegal won the tournament and their goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was the best in the tournament.
The 2023 edition saw a South African star lifting the trophy. The Bafana Bafana captain pulled out some heroic performances and even led his side to a third-place finish. Ronwen Williams won the AFCON 2023 Golden Glove.
