Alvaro Morata ruled out for three weeks after suffering knee injury

The Spanish striker’s unavailability remains uncertain
Alvaro Morata sustained a knee injury on Sunday, which Atletico Madrid have confirmed. This past weekend, Atleti lost 1-0 at Sevilla, pulling further behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
However, Diego Simeone’s team received even worse news on Monday when it was revealed that their top striker is going to be out for some time. Morata’s right knee internal ligament has been sprained, and he has a bone contusion, according to an announcement from the capital club.
Álvaro Morata had to be substituted in the first half of the match played at the Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla. On Monday morning he underwent an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury and the medical services report indicates that he suffered “a bone contusion and sprain of the internal lateral ligament of his right knee”. He is awaiting further treatment.
The Athletic, however, assert that Alvaro Morata’s injury may not be as bad as initially believed and that he may not miss much more than the end of the month.

Although Atletico Madrid have not yet disclosed the length of Morata’s absence, it appears probable that he will be unable to play their Champions League match against Inter in just one week.
A timetable for Morata’s comeback was not disclosed by Atletico, which will host Las Palmas in the Spanish league on Saturday before travelling to Inter Milan in Italy for the first leg of the Champions League last 16 the following week.
