The Blues have continued to struggle in the Premier League

After being thrashed 4-1 by Liverpool, Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea now has the joint-worst away record of any Premier League club in all tournaments since the beginning of last season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s suffering increased as the Blues were severely defeated at Anfield thanks to goals from Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz. Chelsea’s loss on Wednesday was their 22nd away from home since the 2022–23 season began.

In the time since Chelsea’s acquisition by Todd Boehly, when they spent over £1 billion in the transfer market, no Premier League team has suffered more away losses.

Furthermore, Opta’s statistics revealed the severity of the issue facing the struggling Blues. They have only managed to score 10 goals and give up a staggering 51, or 2.31 goals per game, in those 22 games.

Chelsea had an xG against of 40.7 and an xG of 27.5 during their awful away run. They have been attempting shots (273), but rivals have had a total of 300, making it simple for them to create opportunities.

The only team with the same amount of losses during the previous season is Nottingham Forest (22), who are currently ranked 16th in the Premier League and just managed to avoid being demoted to the Championship in the 2022–2023 season.

In comparison, Liverpool have suffered 15 defeats throughout that time, while champions Manchester City have only lost 9 games.

The teams with fewer losses than Chelsea are West Ham (21), Fulham (20), Wolves (19), Bournemouth (18), and Crystal Palace (17). crisis-plagued During that period, Manchester United has lost 16 games.

When Leeds defeated Chelsea 3-0 at Elland Road in August 2022, Chelsea’s away day woes started.

Along the road, there have been 4-1 losses to Man United, Brighton, and Newcastle in addition to a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Man City.

And they did just that on Wednesday as Jurgen Klopp’s team defeated the Blues, who have already lost nine games this season and are 20 points behind the Reds in first place.
