Reports state that Minnesota United have identified Eric Ramsay, the assistant coach at Manchester United, as their primary managerial target.

Five days before the MLS team takes on Austin FC in its campaign opener, interim head coach Sean McAuley left to join Indy Eleven, and the team is still in a bind to name a new manager.

Furthermore, Ramsay has reportedly been contacted by the Minnesota bosses to take over at Allianz Field, according to football transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano.

The two sides are reportedly in “ongoing” and “progressing well” talks as the team attempts to choose a new manager before Saturday’s season-opening match versus Austin.

If the talks go well, Ramsay, who is 31 years old, would be the youngest manager in MLS history.

The Premier League manager joined Man United in 2021 as a player training and set-piece specialist under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and he has been there for over three years.

Since then, he has developed into a more significant member of the backroom staff under Solskjaer’s predecessor Erik ten Hag. At one point, he also managed to balance his responsibilities at Old Trafford with serving as the Wales national team’s assistant coach.

Although Ramsay was born in Shrewsbury, England, he spent his childhood in Wales and competed for his nation as captain of their football squad in the UEFA Euro 2014 qualifying round. Futsal is a hardcourt football variant.

Manager Rob Page stated, “Eric is arguably one of the best young coaches in football at this moment in time,” following Eric’s appointment as an assistant coach for Wales.

In September of last year, Ramsay departed from the Wales coaching setup to concentrate on his position in Manchester.
