"We haven't been performing as well as we can," says Bayern forward Harry Kane

After the Bayern Munich team announced that manager Thomas Tuchel will be leaving this summer, Harry Kane is adamant that he and his teammates “can’t just sit there”.
Tuchel will depart Bayern in the summer, the team said earlier this week, citing connections to both Xabi Alonso and Jurgen Klopp. The team is prepared for a season devoid of trophies; they trail Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen by eight points in the Bundesliga and suffered a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League matchup.
They were unexpectedly ousted from the DFB-Pokal in November by Saarbrucken, a lower-tier team. But Kane is adamant that he and his teammates have to keep battling.
Harry Kane on Tuchel leaving Bayern: “The club made a decision. We have to show our responsibility to the manager, our responsibility to the club, to give everything we have for the season”.

“We knew as players we haven’t been performing as well as we can. We’ve to fight”.
Bayern’s intention to break company with Tuchel, despite his contract expiring in 2025, comes after the team lost three straight games across all competitions and is currently in second place in the Bundesliga, eight points adrift leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
When Tuchel looked back on his time at Bayern, he highlighted the team’s regrettable string of injuries that prevented them from playing at their best. In addition, he acknowledged that he made the decision to assume leadership in a hurry and that he hasn’t been able to provide continuity to the group.
With 31 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season, Kane has been in incredible form. He scored a brilliant last-minute winner against Leipzig. The 30-year-old is still pursuing his first senior prize of the season, though.
Freiburg will be Bayern’s next opponent on Friday. The following Tuesday, they will play Lazio in the second leg of their round of 16 Champions League match.
