Klopp will step down as Liverpool manager after end of season
The representative of Jurgen Klopp has played down the likelihood that the Liverpool manager will succeed Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign.
On the morning of Wednesday, the former manager of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund announced his summer resignation from the team, following three straight losses that destroyed both domestic and European ambitions.
With a one-year option to extend his contract, Tuchel, who was only brought over in Bavaria 11 months ago when Julian Nagelsmann was fired in the middle of the season, was under contract until 2025.
The news of his resignation creates an opportunity for yet another prominent managerial position come summertime, but as Bayern prepare, rumours of a connection to Klopp are already starting to circulate. But Bayern’s main objective is Xabi Alonso, which means a complicated situation involving Liverpool remains.
Although Klopp’s ties to the Bundesliga’s top teams make sense given his German heritage, his agent Marc Kosicke put an end to any discussion of a takeover as soon as he left Anfield.

Kosicke addressed rumours about Klopp’s aspirations for the position only a year ago.
“Jürgen Klopp will not coach any club or national team for a year after this current season”. “That remains unchanged”,
Following Euro 2024 in the summer, Klopp has also been connected to the position of manager of the German national team; there is some speculation that he would join for the 2026 World Cup.
“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,” he said. Klopp has previously said that it would be a “great honour” to manage his country.
Things are a little unclear going forward because of his guaranteed status now that the season is almost over. After almost 20 years in management straight, Klopp said last month that he intended to take a break from the game.
