Manchester City held at home by resilient Chelsea
Chelsea & Manchester City played their second draw this season
Defending champions Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Chelsea in their Premier League encounter.
Raheem Sterling’s first-half goal was cancelled by Rodri in the 83rd minute.
Pep Guardiola’s team are sitting third in the league table two points behind Arsenal and five behind leaders, Liverpool. However, they have a match in hand and won’t let this title get away that easily.
Pochettino’s team move to 10th in the ranking and this was their fifth draw this season.
Manchester City dominated the possession from the start. They kept the visiting side on the back foot and were not allowing them to rotate the ball. However, the Blues came up with a plan and were trying to hit the home team on the counter.
Chelsea created a chance down the right flank. Nicolas Jackson got a great chance to score after receiving a great pass into the penalty box. However, the Senegalese international wasted a great opportunity.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute. Former Manchester City man Raheem Sterling scored the game’s opener. This time Nicolas Jackson created a chance from the right side through a counterattack. The Blues took the lead into the second half.

The defending champions dominated the second half but Chelsea maintained a tight defensive line. Pep’s team created numerous chances. Erling Haaland and Co. failed to capitalise on the opportunities until Rodri levelled the scoring.
Rodri attempted a shot from the edge of the penalty box with his weaker left foot. The shot was heading to the left corner and was deflected at the end by Axel Disasi. Rodri was awarded his sixth goal in the current campaign.
These two teams played a thrilling eight-goal encounter at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer scored four goals for the home team. Erling Haaland scored a brace, while Manuel Akanji and Rodri scored the other two goals for Man City.
