Saka, Zinchenko and Magalhaes suffered an injury in game vs the Reds
Mikel Arteta has disclosed that following Arsenal’s two losses on Sunday afternoon, neither Gabriel Jesus nor Bukayo Saka are a major injury concern. Jesus was left off the matchday squad, thus the Gunners had to play without him during the 3-1 victory over Liverpool.
Saka was substituted from the match after the first half at Emirates Stadium, where he had opened the scoring. Following the game Arteta commented on Saka’s injury:
He added: “With Gabi we expect it to be something that is days and with Alex [Oleksandr Zinchenko] we don’t know. He had some feeling in his calf again and we had to take him off.”
“He should be fine. He got a kick on the ankle or the back of his foot, he should be fine.”
Before kickoff, Arteta had stated that Jesus’ return to the team against Nottingham Forest might have caused his knee issue to flare up again.

“Unfortunately, he had a setback in training and he wasn’t fit to play,” the Spaniard explained. “It’s something related to his knee, but I think it’s a short-term thing.”
He continued: “The return [against Forest] might’ve been a bit too fast for him.” In the mean time both Jesus and Saka played key roles in the two wins which have now put Arsenal back to within two points of Liverpool at the top of the table. Manchester City can go to the summit if they win both games in hand.
Saka scored the opening goal of a thrilling match against the Reds, grabbing the loose ball after Allison had stopped Kai Havertz’s shot. But an hour in, he had to be replaced.
Shortly into the second half, the 22-year-old collided with Darwin Nunez and remained on the ground. He stood back up and carried on for nearly twenty more minutes. Zinchenko was supplanted by Jakub Kiwior at the half.
