Nigeria vs Ivory Coast: All time head-to-head record

Nigeria and Ivory Coast met in the AFCON 2023 final
Nigeria and Ivory Coast have played some epic battles, with the AFCON 2023 being the latest of them all. These two sides are the giants of Africa and have a similar record on the pitch.
Ivory Coast lifted the 2023 title after completing a 2-1 win over the Super Eagles. This win takes them ahead of Nigeria in the overall head-to-head record.
This will be the second meeting of the tournament between these two African giants. Both teams started their campaign in Group A. Nigeria cruised past their opponents by winning the match 1-0. The Super Eagles’ captain William Ekong scored the only goal of the match from the spot.
Nigeria have now won back-to-back matches against Ivory Coast and that too by a 1-0 scoreline. The last five meetings between these two sides have ended in three wins for the Super Eagles and two for the Elephants.
Both nations will meet for the eighth time in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Nigerians have the upper hand with three wins. Two matches have gone in Ivory Coast’s favour and two matches have ended in a draw.
One interesting fact is that Nigeria have always won the competition, whenever these two have played against each other. In 1980, the match ended in a draw. Nigeria won the semi-finals in 1994 on penalties. The match ended 2-2 before heading into penalties. In 2013, the Super Eagles won 2-1 in the quarter-finals.
