Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund becomes youngest player to score in six consecutive Premier League games

Rasmus Hojlund failed to score in his first 14 Premier League appearances

Rasmus Hojlund netted his first goal of the evening against Luton, making him the youngest Premier League player to rack up goals in six straight games.

According to Squawka, Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo is the only other Premier League player to have both a goal and an assist in back-to-back league games this season.

The Danish international seems to have regained his form at Old Trafford after a shaky start, especially in the league. Hojlund had gone eight games sans registering a goal or an assist before his current six-game run of six goals and two assists throughout all tournaments.

The Premier League has seen one meeting between Manchester United and Luton. That one match earlier in the season was won by Manchester United. In the Premier League, United have one goal against Luton, who have nevertheless not scored against United. So far, United have only preserved one clean sheet.

The Premier League encounter between United and Luton is being played for the second time. United will hope to close the gap between Tottenham who are 47 points and United are 41 points in the league.

Ten Hag has been working some young players with the first tea for the past few days. Both attacker Ethan Williams and defensive midfielder Toby Collier have been observed, which may mean they are part of the squad that goes to Luton, although they might not be in the starting lineup on game day.

Though it is oversimplified to argue that “goals breed goals,” those who deal with Hojlund believe he is settling into his role as United’s line leader and that sense of belonging is giving him more confidence in his ability.

That should be enhanced by becoming the second-youngest player, after Nicolas Anelka of Arsenal in 1998, who has scored in five straight Premier League games.
