Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel 'offers himself' to Barcelona: Report

Tuchel could leave Bayern Munich by the end of season

According to Mundo Deportivo, Thomas Tuchel has offered himself to FC Barcelona after his Bayern Munich, stint could come to an end by the culmination of the season.

After nearly three years as the first team’s manager, Xavi Hernandez announced his resignation, leaving the position empty at Montjuic Stadium as of June 30.

Jurgen Klopp and Hansi Flick are two names the media has been circulating as potential successors for Xavi. Barca president Joan Laporta and the director of sports Deco are hoping to find an ideal candidate for the Catalans giants.

Laporta is a well-known fan of the German school of contemporary managers, whose efforts have on numerous occasions in the past few years proved to be Barca’s downfall in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich, which Tuchel presently manages, was responsible for Barca’s worst night on the continent—the team’s 8-2 demolition of the UCL quarterfinal in Lisbon in 2020—and also had a significant impact on the Spaniards’ inability to go past the group phase for two years in a row.

But at the Allianz Arena, things don’t look as smoothly for Tuchel; the Bavarians are currently nursing their wounds after losing 3-0 to Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.

Bayern were overpowered from beginning to end in the Bay Arena, and the setback dropped them five points behind Bayer at the top. Xabi Alonso, a contender linked to the Barca position, managed the loss.

SPORT claims that Alonso is Barca’s “dream” choice, but Liverpool, who will lose Klopp on June 30 like the Blaugrana and Xavi, may sign him before Barca does.

These comprise the former manager of Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea pitching himself to Barcelona. In addition, Tuchel has publicly stated recently that he hopes to work in Spain.

By signing Tuchel, Barca would acquire a player who defeated his previous employers, Dortmund, in the final match of the campaign to win the Bundesliga and the Champions League in 2021.
