Since it was founded in 1955 as the European Cup, the UEFA Champions League has housed the best teams from all around the continent. Europe being football’s powerhouse means the Champions League, by default, has become the most intense league at club level. The competition has served as one of the biggest platforms for footballers to showcase their talents when the world is watching. Here we look at the top five youngest players to make 50 Champions League appearances:

5. Vinicius Junior – 23 Years & 216 Days

The superstar Frenchman, still only 25, is one of the best players in the world at present. He is also able to play in the centre as a main striker, due to his composure, clinical finishing, and eye for goal. Not only for the National team but also for the club he consistently scores goals at the continental level as well.

2. Cesc Fabregas – 22 Years & 331 Days

Arguably one of the finest midfielders to come out of Spain, he was undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world and his range of passing ability was unmatched, which is a key part of his game. He was a very versatile player and also played for big clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea.

1. Iker Casillas – 22 Years & 155 Days

Iker Casillas is affectionately called ‘King Iker’ by his fans and teammates due to his exploits for club and country. He has been highly regarded for his strong personality, calm composure under pressure, ability to organise his defence, and leadership from the back throughout his career, as well as his reading of the game.

Casillas made his first team debut for his boyhood club Real Madrid in 1999-00. The then 19-year-old became the youngest goalkeeper to win the Champions League that season when Madrid beat fellow La Liga club Valencia in Paris.
