Ratings: Central Coast Mariners thrash Odisha FC in AFC Cup inter-zonal semi-finals

Amrinder Singh put out a standout performance for Odisha FC in their disappointing loss.
Odisha FC faced a 4-0 defeat against Central Coast Mariners FC in the first leg of the Inter-Zonal semi-final of the 2023 AFC Cup at the Central Coast Stadium on Thursday.
The home team completely dominated the game with some tactical brilliance in the match. Before the end of the first half, Mikael Doka scored the first goal for Central Coast in the 36th minute. In the second half, Storm Roux scored the second for his team in the 52nd minute and Doka scored his second and the third for his team through a penalty in the 77th minute of play. Ronald Barcellos scored the fourth and final goal of the game in the 89th minute which helped his team to secure a resounding lead in the first leg.

Amrinder Singh – 7
In today’s match, the standout player for Odisha FC was the team’s skipper. In the opening minute of the game, he made a crucial one-on-one save, preventing a certain goal by Jing Reec.
Amey Ranawade – 6.5
Amey displayed moments of skill while defending in the game, but was lacking accuracy when taking shots at the front end. However, he did deliver an impressive cross in the first half.
Mourtada Fall – 7
Mourtada played a pivotal role as the sole defender, making several crucial clearances throughout the match. His interventions effectively neutralized the opposing team’s threat on multiple occasions.
Carlos Delgado – 6
Delgado’s performance in the game fell below his usual standard. His error in the opening minute of the match could have resulted in a goal against Odisha FC.
Jerry Lalrinzuala – 6
Jerry’s performance in the game fell below his usual standards. He appeared fatigued on the field and struggled to maintain momentum while exerting himself.
Ahmed Jahouh – 6.5
Jahouh’s performance in the first half was subdued, but he demonstrated significant improvement in the second half. The midfielder attempted a shot on target and effectively intervened to prevent a crucial tackle during the latter period of the game.
Lalththanga Khawlhring – 6
Although Puitea demonstrated determination on the field while asserting control in the left flank, his performance did not match that of the opponent in the midfield.
Roy Krishna – 7
Roy exerted great effort, not only in the front end but also in assisting at the back line. However, he conceded a penalty in the second half, which was converted by Mikael Doka.
CY Goddard – 6.5
Goddard displayed proficiency in the field during the initial half of the game. His adeptness with short passes was evident, however, he failed to pose a significant threat to the opposing team.
Isak Vanlalruatfela – 6.5
Isak demonstrated commendable effort during the latter part of the match, advancing the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area and attempting several shots. Unfortunately, he was unable to bypass the opposing defenders.
Diego Mauricio – 7.5
As always, Mauricio performed admirably on the field. The forward had opportunities during the game but was unable to capitalize on them by scoring goals.
Substitutes
Aniket Jadhav – 5
Aniket replaced Isak in the 68th minute. He had very few opportunities to prove his worth and the game was completely in control of the Mariners.
