Mohammedan, Real Kashmir players headline I-League 2023-24 Team of GW 19

The I-League is into its busniess end, and the competition is intensifying with every passing game. The previous week saw several compelling fixtures, with teams demonstrating their best to secure victory. With the season progressing, the level of competition continues to rise, promising an engaging culmination.
Currently, Mohammedan SC is strongly holding onto the top position in the points table with 38 points from 17 matches while Real Kashmir are behind them with 33 points from 17 matches. They are followed by Sreenidi Deccan at third and Gokulam Kerala FC at fourth place.
In this article, we will take a look at the players who made it to the Team of the Week with their performances in the 19th week of the tournament.
Goalkeeper – Subhasish Roy Chowdhury (Churchill Brothers)
Subhasish experienced a memorable outing that will live in his memory for a long period. He played a pivotal role in leading his team to victory in the match against Shillong Lajong. Particularly during the second half of the game, the veteran goalkeeper showcased outstanding skills, effectively preventing the opposing team from scoring any further goals.
Right-back – Harpreet Singh (Namdhari FC)
Harpreet displayed strong defensive prowess in the match against Delhi FC, effectively providing key clearances at the back. Additionally, he contributed offensively as well, scoring a goal and providing an assist during the game.
Centre-back – Nidhin Krishna (Gokulam Kerala FC)
Nidhin Krishna provided Gokulam Kerala a crucial equalizer in the 65th minute of the match, which significantly bolstered the team’s morale on the field. This led to an elevation in their performances as well; although they ultimately succumbed to a late goal by the Mohammedan side.
Centre-back – Eli Sabia (Sreenidi Deccan)
With his defensive prowess, Sabia also notched a goal for his team in the 61st minute with a header. Despite his team’s loss, he was observed providing guidance to the younger players in defense and effectively thwarting the opponent’s threats for majority of the game.
Left-back – Wayne Vaz (Real Kashmir)
Wayne consistently upheld his strong performance in the backline, effectively sustaining Real Kashmir’s aspirations for securing the top position in the league. His exceptional displays in defense thwarted the opponent’s attempts to create scoring opportunities.
Right Midfielder – David Lalhlalsanga (Mohammedan SC)
David Lalhlalsanga emerged as the standout performer in Mohammedan SC’s match against Gokulam Kerala. Not only did he provide an assist during the game, but he also scored a crucial goal in the final minutes, ultimately securing victory for his team.
Central Midfielder – Phrangki Buam (Shillong Lajong)
Phrangki Buam was the goal scorer for Shillong Lajong in their match against Churchill Brothers. The 23-year-old advanced into the box and made the decisive touch, securing the goal and earning his team an equalizer.
Attacking Midfielder – Martin Chaves (Churchill Brothers)
Martin entered the match as a substitute in the 67th minute and subsequently scored a crucial goal for his team in the 80th minute, contributing to their victory. Moreover, he has already scored three goals and provided three assists this season.
Central Midfielder – Alexis Gomez (Mohammedan SC)
Alexis Gomez has been a significant contributor to Mohammedan’s performance this season. The midfielder has scored two goals and provided five assists so far. In addition to his midfield prowess, he also secured the second goal for Mohammedan, granting them an early and commanding lead in the match.
Left Midfielder – Lalchungnunga Chhangte (Rajasthan FC)
Chhangte has emerged as a noteworthy player to observe this season. The youthful midfielder secured the sole goal for Rajasthan, preventing them from facing defeat against Inter Kashi, known for their exceptional performances this season.
Striker – Gnohere krizo (Real Kashmir)
Krizo scored two goals during the game against Sreenidi Deccan. His pivotal goal came in the 90+3rd minute from a penalty kick, ultimately securing victory for his team. He has already scored ten goals this season, highlighting his form.
