The hosts can go top of the league table with a win

Arsenal have a really good home run to take on Brentford with. Last time out, in the Premier League, the Gunners were up against Sheffield United. They triumphed wildly with a 6-0 victory. Now a win will put Mikel Arteta’s side on top of the league table. And they will later hope for an advantageous result that keeps them there later when Liverpool faces Manchester City.

Brentford on the other hand isn’t in a promising position. After 27 league games, they have collected a mere 26 points on the table. That however keeps them 6 points above the relegation zone for the moment. Thomas Frank’s men did however earn a very good point in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea last time out.

Kick-Off:

Saturday, 9 March 2024 at 5:30 PM UK (11:00 PM IST)

Location: Emirates Stadium

Form

Arsenal (in all competitions): W-W-L-W-W

Brentford (in all competitions): D-L-L-L-W

Players to Watch

Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)

A player that comes alive or rather gets the much-needed attention whenever any Arsenal player goes absent with injury. With high chances of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli not participating in this fixture, Leandro Trossard is likely to step up once again. The 29-year-old winger has scored 7 goals so far and also has an assist.

Ivan Toney (Brentford)

A player who was in the headlines for most of the season due to breaching betting rules. Ivan Toney has 4 goals in the 8 odd appearances he managed post-suspension. Given Gunners were linked heavily with Toney in the winter transfer window, it will be special to see the striker in their opposition on the ground.

Match Facts

  • In the last four league games, the hosts have scored 21 goals in total while conceding only once
  • The visiting team have found victory only once in their last seven league fixtures
  • A win will put Arteta and Co. at the peak of the PL standings

Injury & Team News

It will be interesting to see how the head coach of Arsenal FC handles the withdrawal of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the last game. Likely the pair have some injury issues, and hopefully, Arteta will be cautious with their involvement. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey are seemingly available for some action from the bench.

For the Bees, Bryan Mbeumo along with a few others are out injured. The likes of Ethan Pinnock, Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey, Ben Mee, Rico Henry and Josh Dasilva won’t be available to face the might of the home side.

Head to Head

Total Matches – 19

Arsenal wins – 8

Brentford wins – 6

Draws – 5

Predicted Lineup

Arsenal predicted lineup (4-3-3):

Raya (GK); White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Ødegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Nketiah, Havertz, Trossard

Brentford predicted lineup (3-5-2):

Flekken (GK); Jørgensen, Ajer, Collins; Roerslev, Onyeka, Nørgaard, Janelt, Reguilón; Toney, Wissa

Match Prediction for Arsenal vs Brentford

It will be very very hard for Brentford to deal with Arsenal right now. As the Gunners will likely take the opportunity in hand to go up top, chances are very slim for the visiting side. Expecting a win that gives the hosts a result more than just hope in the title race.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Brentford
